Canvas Art Care & Hanging Guide

Care and installation requirements vary by artwork, frame, and wall type. Instructions supplied with your product take priority over this general guide.

Unpacking

Open the package on a clean, dry surface.

Keep blades and sharp tools away from the canvas and frame. Lift artwork by its frame or supporting structure rather than pressing against the canvas surface.

Retain the packaging until you have inspected the item.

Choosing a Display Location

Display canvas artwork indoors, away from prolonged direct sunlight, excessive heat, and high humidity.

Avoid locations exposed to splashes, condensation, or sudden temperature changes unless the product description specifically confirms suitability.

Dusting and Cleaning

Dust gently with a clean, soft, dry cloth or suitable soft brush.

Do not scrub, soak, or spray cleaning products directly onto the canvas.

Avoid solvents, abrasive cleaners, and household chemicals unless the product instructions expressly permit them.

Do not apply varnish or protective coatings without confirming their suitability.

Frame Care

Clean frame surfaces according to the material and supplied instructions.

Avoid placing pressure on corners and joints. Do not lift framed artwork by decorative trim that is not designed to support its weight.

Safe Hanging

Check the artwork’s weight and inspect its mounting points before installation.

Choose fixings suitable for both the weight and wall construction. Drywall, masonry, plaster, and timber may require different hardware.

Follow the supplied instructions. If you are unsure which fixings to use, seek help from a qualified installer.

Do not hang artwork where an insecure mounting could create a hazard.

Moving and Storage

Protect the corners and canvas surface during transportation.

Store artwork in a clean, dry location with suitable protection. Do not stack heavy objects against it or place pressure on the canvas.
